The OEA Minority Leadership Training Program (MLTP) provides participants, particularly OEA members of color, with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully serve as leaders at all levels of the Association–local, district, state and national. The program includes leadership development experiences and support throughout the year to develop each participant’s ability to match their leadership interests with leadership opportunities to positively impact OEA’s growth as an inclusive and diverse organization.

The 2023 OEA Minority Leadership Training Program will begin on Friday evening, May 17, 2024, and conclude late Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2024. This program is limited to 50 participants. There is no cost for this training, and it includes dinner, breakfast, and lunch. Accommodations for Friday night are also included if participants do not live near the training location. Additionally, participants will receive reimbursement for mileage. All attendees must commit to full participation on both days.

  • Advanced Running for Office
  • Conducting a Meeting Using Parliamentary Procedures
  • Confronting the Rise of White Nationalism in Public Schools
  • Message Development for Public Education Advocates
  • Racial Justice 101
  • Understanding the Association
